Last week, I was able to spend some time with a missionary family, I had originally met while I was on the Race in 2014-15. When I arrived at their home, there was a team from Colorado that had just arrived to have a dental clinic for some of the villages the family works with. I was able to be adopted into the team and work alongside them.

A beautiful 14 year old girl had a cavity in her front tooth and then chipped her tooth when a ring was stuck on her finger and she bit down on the ring to try to get it off and some of her teeth chipped in the process. The team was able to clean out the decay and restore her teeth.

After drilling in the morning, she did not want to finish the work in the afternoon. But, after seeing the end result and with the restoration process not hurting, she was thrilled with the results.

She could not stop smiling and checking out her teeth!

How many of us are like her? We turn away from the Lord because He starts “hitting to close to home?” When He is refining us, will we show up for the work, even if pain and strife are involved? The end result of our pain is often beauty.
