I want to encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and do something that makes you uncomfortable this Christmas Season.

I haven’t played the handbells since 7th grade, that was in 1993-1994! I have not read music since 1999. I was asked to join the handbell choir this Christmas and I was honest and told the director how long it has been since I played with an ensemble/read music and she was excited to have me.

I am not an all star and the performances were not perfect but I allowed God to stretch me and I had to rely on the Lord’s help constantly!  Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

While performing on Christmas Eve, our handbell choir played in the prelude to the service and during the service.  I hit a few incorrect notes but I was playing for my Savior’s glory, not mine.

As you are thinking of New Year’s resolutions, how can you stretch yourself this year?  Are there areas of your life that God is asking for more of and you have been hesitating?  I want to encourage you to step out in faith and allow yourself to be stretched!

This photo is from the handbell choir’s first performance in December.  I am on the first row, 3rd from the right.  Ringing for His glory!
