Another one of my squad mates posted this information and I wanted to provide everyone with the info seeing as you all are a huge part in sending me on the race!

So if you have questions about where all of this money is going- here is hopefully where those questions will be answered! The following is a cost breakdown for the World Race trips as of November 7, 2011:

From juliesliwinski.theworldrace.org

Program Expenses:

This category includes direct and indirect costs such as training camp, participant field expenses and support field expenses. Essentially, this covers the costs for my 11-month trip – meals, lodging, and travel by land, sea or air as well as the premium for my travel insurance.

Program Development:

Funds are reinvested into the general World Race fund to grow the program and international relationships.

Administrative Expenses:

Overhead covers all indirect expenses such as accounting, IT, human resources, donor relations, marketing and development departments.

Items not covered in the $16,254:

  • Vaccinations and Medicine: $1500-$2500 Working to get these set up now.
  • Gear (backpack, tent, sleeping pad, etc.): Approximately $864. I have a registry @  http://www.myregistry.com/organization/Tina-Sakers-Abingdon-MD/678200 if you would like to help me purchase the gear I need.
  • Flights to and from US Launch/Receiving city: I do not have this information yet.

I hope this helps answer any questions you have about allocation of funds.

If you would like to give a donation there is a link located under my photo on the left hand side, click the SUPPORT ME! tab, every dollar counts and gets me one step closer to Asia!

One response to “Financial Breakdown”

  1. Check with the health department – there may be some vaccinations you can get for free.
