The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. Genesis 12:1

When was the last time you followed God to a place when you had none of your questions answered, you just knew He was leading you to a new place?

In May, I was in Cambodia, doing ministry with E Squad, going through training with my co-leaders and the 4 leaders we had raised up to take our place, when we left at the end of the month. I was praying about next steps, asking the Father to lead and to provide an immediate job for me upon my return to the States.

A week before my co-leaders and I were scheduled to go back to the States for a debrief, I got word from my cousin in Nashville, TN that she knew a family who wanted me to care for their son for the summer.

I was honored to be asked but I thought to myself, I’ve been away from my community of loving, encouraging, supportive, challenging people on the East Coast for 2 years, surely the Lord doesn’t want me to go 12 hours away from them.  As I was looking other places for employment and trying to find another option, the Lord told me He was being faithful and asked if I was going to be faithful to follow Him?  I knew I was headed to Nashville when I was released from squad leading!

My cousin graciously opened up her home for me and I began working with Aaron and Karen as soon as I got to Nashville.  The first two weeks were a bit difficult as my cousin went away for a conference and I did not know anyone. I went to community events but felt lonely among the families and friend groups gathered there.

But the Father was faithful to me:

– He provided immediate employment

– He blessed me with living with my wonderful cousin

– Aaron began making progress almost immediately. Aaron has been diagnosised with autism and has some difficulties interacting with others

~Aaron was able to talk with his grandmother on the phone for the first time, she was moved to tears

~Aaron began to interact with other children on the playground

~Staying active, helped Aaron with his stimming

~Both of Aaron’s parents noticed improvement in his overall attitude, behavior and enjoyment of life

– I was able to make new friends like Karen, Peggy and Gwen

– I was blessed to be a person of peace for Karen during a difficult time in her family

– I was able to reconnect with a friend who had moved from the Annapolis, MD area to TN

– I was able to enjoy the great outdoors and invite others to go on excursions with me

The Lord blessed me with an incredible summer and I would have missed out if I did not follow His leading!
