As I was spending time with Jesus the other morning, I was reading Matthew 4:1-10 about when Jesus had fasted for 40 days and 40 nights and was alone in the desert.
Satan went to Jesus and was tempting Him. Satan was distorting scripture and trying to get Jesus to sin and each time Jesus would counter saying “it is written.”
God was highlighting to me that Satan knows scripture; he often uses it to distract us from the truth, helping us to justify the sin in our lives and straight out blaspheme God.
From the beginning Satan has done this. We see in Genesis 3:1-7, that Eve was tempted by Satan when he distorted what God had instructed them. ” Did God really say?”
Sunday, our team went to worship at Dr Michael’s church. His church has an awesome tradition; each week there is a time during worship when each person, from the eldest to the youngest, stands up and shares a verse they have been learning and meditating on during the week.
We are instructed as Christians to hide scripture in our hearts, so that we don’t sin against God (Psalm 119:11) and so that we are ready with our Armor of God as we face spiritual battles (Ephesians 6:10-18.)
I love that Dr Michael’s church encourages everyone to be in the word, studying scripture.
I have been on a journey with Jesus since I was 5 years old and I am constantly learning more scripture. I love how Jesus guides, comforts, challenges and directs me through his word, the Bible.
This is my beautiful team at Dr Michael’s church
