Trusting the Lord. Sounds easy. We are commanded to put our trust in the Lord as Christians but how often do we actually trust the Lord? I have been on a journey of learning to trust the Lord, since I was 5 years old and invited Jesus into my life. I have trusted God to be a faithful Father to me and He has never left my side or rejected me, no matter what I have done. I have trusted the Lord to provide all of my needs; physically, emotionally and spiritually. In 2009, I trusted the calling from the Lord to leave my corporate job at Nestle and hike the Appalachian Trail (AT), as my first longer mission trip. I trusted the Lord to sustain me each day as I got up and hiked, doing the same thing I had done the day before and choosing not to become complacent or bored. He was faithful to provide the strength, energy and stamina I needed each day. Going on the World Race in 2014-15, I trusted the Lord to fully fund my trip before I launched in September, 2014 and He provided every penny of the $16,254. In both examples, I trusted the Lord and I had responsibilities. On the AT, I needed to physically show up each day; get out of my sleeping bag liner and get ready for the day, then set off, putting one foot in front of the other, taking time to see and hear the people who I encountered along the way, freely sharing the love of Jesus. With fundraising for the World Race, I trusted the Lord to provide the funds but I also worked hard, having many different events; opening a bakery out of my home, making and selling natural items at craft fairs, hosting dinners at restaurants, selling t-shirts and more. I needed to trust the Lord and put my faith into action.
